Wulf's Puff Pastry. The famous Staritsky brand "Wulf's Puff Pastries" has its origins in the Staritsky region. In October 1829, Alexander Pushkin sampled the famous apple puff pastries at the home of Pavel Ivanovich Wulf, the owner of the Pavlovskoye estate. Pavel Ivanovich's wife, Friederike (Fritsinka) von Busch, brought the puff pastry recipe from Hamburg. During Soviet times, the Staritsky consumer cooperative baked amazing, mouth-watering puff pastries with fragrant apples, which were always in demand. Now you can enjoy these puff pastries in Staritsky cafes.
