The village of Konstantinovo in the Ryazan region is more than just a spot on the map; it's a place of power and inspiration, the birthplace of one of the most poignant and beloved Russian poets, Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin. If you appreciate leisurely travel, seek the authentic atmosphere of the Russian hinterland, and are ready to immerse yourself in history and nature, Konstantinovo is the ideal choice for a weekend getaway or a stopover on a longer road trip.
Main attraction: S.A. Yesenin State Museum-Reserve
The village's life is inextricably linked with the poet's name, and its heart is the S.A. Yesenin State Museum-Reserve. This is not a single building, but a complex of historical and restored sites, allowing you to experience the contrasting lifestyles of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Attractions:
1. Memorial Estate of Yesenin's Parents: The house where the poet spent his childhood and youth has been restored here. You'll see authentic household items and experience the very "peasant" atmosphere that inspired many of his poems.
2. L.I. Kashina's Estate: The former estate of the village's last landowner, Lidia Ivanovna Kashina. She became the prototype for the heroine of the poem "Anna Snegina." The contrast between the manor house with its spacious veranda and the modest peasant hut is a visual aid to the history of Russia at that time.
3. Zemstvo School: The school that Sergei Yesenin's father and himself graduated from. Here you can see restored classrooms, teachers' rooms, and a dormitory for students, as well as the poet's desk and books.
4. Kazan Church: A functioning church built in 1779 in the classical style. It was here that little Seryozha was baptized and his parents were married.
5. Priest I.Ya. Smirnov's House: Priest Ioann Smirnov baptized Yesenin. The house is part of a museum complex, depicting the everyday life of the clergy.

Tip: Buy a single entrance ticket; it usually includes all the main exhibitions and is cheaper than visiting each one separately. Check opening hours and event schedules in advance, especially if planning a visit during the off-season.

Nature
It's not only the memorial sites that make Konstantinovo special. The village's main treasure is the breathtaking panoramas that open up from the high right bank of the Oka River.
Try to take time for a leisurely stroll:
• Observation deck: It offers the famous view of the floodplain meadows, river bends, and endless expanses that the poet loved so much.
• Paths to the Oka River: Stroll along the paths that descend to the river. Breathe in the moist air of the floodplain and imagine how these places became the setting for great poems.
• Yesenin's Poplar: Find the poplar that, according to legend, the poet himself planted.
These open spaces create a sense of peace and harmony year-round, imbuing the journey with the very lyrical mood that people come here for.

Nearby gems: Poshchupovo. Just a 15-minute drive from Konstantinovo is the village of Poshchupovo, home to the St. John the Theologian Monastery, one of the oldest and most revered in the Ryazan region. The monastery stands on a hill above the Oka River and is a wonderful addition to any cultural program. According to legend, Yesenin often visited here with his grandmother.

Where to eat and where to stay
Konstantinovo offers basic but sufficient infrastructure for tourists.
Dining: There are several cafes on the museum-reserve grounds and in the village itself where you can grab a bite to eat or sample local cuisine.
Accommodation: For a truly immersive experience, you can stay at the museum-reserve's guesthouse (advance reservation required). The surrounding area (for example, in Poshchupovo, Bortnoye, or Ivanchino) also offers recreation centers and guest houses offering comfortable accommodations.

How to get there:
Konstantinovo is located approximately 43 kilometers northwest of Ryazan, on the high, picturesque bank of the Oka River.
By car: This is the most convenient route. From Moscow, take the Novorizhanskoye Highway (M5) to the town of Rybnoye, then follow the signs for approximately 20 km. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours from Moscow and less than an hour from Ryazan. This gives you maximum freedom of movement and the opportunity to visit the neighboring St. John the Theologian Monastery in Poshchupovo (more on that below).
By public transportation: From Ryazan (Ryazan-1 or Ryazan-2) or Moscow (Kazansky Station), take the commuter train or train to Rybnoye station. Buses and minibuses (e.g., #132) run regularly from Rybnoye to Konstantinovo.
