The village of Ferapontovo is unique in its beauty. It lies on the shores of two picturesque lakes—Borodaevskoye and Paskoye. The northern natural beauty harmonizes with the architectural ensemble of the Ferapontov Monastery, which houses the Museum of Dionysius's Frescoes. The complete preservation of the frescoes in the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin, created by the iconographer and artist Dionysius in 1502, is of great historical value, which is why the Ferapontov Monastery is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ferapontov-Belozersky Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin (In 2000, the Ferapontov Monastery complex was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List). Dionysius's Frescoes: The Ferapontov Monastery rises 19 km from Kirillov. The monastery was founded in 1398 by the monk and companion of St. Kirill of Belozersk, St. Ferapont. Of particular significance to Russian and world culture is the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, painted over 500 years ago by the great Russian icon painter Dionysius and his sons. In 2000, the Ferapontov Monastery complex, featuring Dionysius's frescoes, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The architectural and historical complex of the Ferapontov-Belozersky Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is located on a hill between Lake Borodaevskoye and Lake Paskoye. This stone monastery, of federal significance, is located adjacent to another sacred site in the Kirillovsky District—the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, just 15 kilometers away.

Tsypina Mountain is the highest mountain in the national park. It is located four kilometers from the village of Ferapontovo. The mountain is distinguished by several hump-like peaks, one of which is one of the highest points not only in the park but also in the entire Vologda Oblast—210.4 meters above sea level. Each of the mountain's peaks has its own slopes with unique names—Sokolinaya, Roskina, and Zmeinaya. The latter, for example, got its name from the undulating elevation change on its western side. The peaks offer picturesque landscapes with hills and knolls in every shade of green, blue river loops, and lakes reflecting the sky. These places are simply perfect for painting from nature. The calcium-rich soils provide a fertile environment for a variety of vegetation, including rare and endangered species (such as members of the orchid family). Much of the upland is covered in dense mixed forest with lily-of-the-valley clearings and lingonberry meadows, interspersed with mixed-grass hay meadows. Since pagan times, the mountain has been considered sacred. Since 1882, one of the peaks has been crowned by a small, visible chapel, built in honor of Alexander Nevsky and in memory of the martyrdom of Tsar Alexander II. It was destroyed early in the last century, and a memorial cross now stands in its place. Picturesque Lake Ilyinskoye laps at the foot of the mountain. In winter, Tsypina Gora offers active recreation: a ski resort with rental services and a café are located here.

The wooden Church of Elijah the Prophet on the shore of Lake Ilyinskoye, built in 1755. At the foot of the hill on the northern side of Lake Ilyinskoye, the Ilyinsky (Tsypinsky) churchyard formerly stood, first mentioned in 1533. All that remains of it are the house of the psalm-reader Kirov and a wooden church, hidden among the dense greenery of poplars, lindens, and birches, built in 1755 "on the occasion of the appearance of the icon of the Prophet Elijah."

Lake Borodaevskoye. Fifteen kilometers northeast of Kirillov, not far from the road connecting the town with the village of Ferapontovo, Lake Borodaevskoye stretches like an oval-lobed mirror. Situated in a valley where glacial meltwater flows, this largely determines the topography of its shores and bottom. The lake's shoreline is dotted with numerous bays, most of which are located in the southern part of the body of water. The northern shore, however, has a flat, occasionally steep, relief. The bottom is characterized by uniform undulations with several fairly deep basins. The lake gets its name from the Borodava River, a left tributary of the Sheksna River, which flows out of the lake. A narrow channel, named Uski by locals, connects Borodaevskoye Lake with the neighboring Ferapontovskoye (Monastyrskoye) Lake. Lake Borodaevskoye has the following characteristics: water surface area – 546 hectares; shoreline length – 22.1 km; length – 5.7 km; maximum width – 1.8 km with an average of 0.9 km; maximum depth – 10.5 m with an average depth of 3.1 m. The lake has 15 islands of varying sizes (0.1 – 4.0 hectares) and is bordered by a lake terrace reaching a width of 600–700 m. The fish fauna of the reservoir is composed of smelt and bream, making the lake very popular with recreational anglers in both summer and winter.

The Ferapontov Monastery of the Nativity of the Theotokos was founded in 1398 by St. Ferapont. For approximately 400 years, it was one of the prominent cultural and religious educational centers in the Belozersk region. The monastery's history is intertwined with important historical events during the formation of the Russian centralized state. The monastery gained widespread fame thanks to the teachings of St. Cyril of Belozersk, also known as St. Martinian.
The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos at the Ferapontov Monastery preserves a unique ensemble of frescoes painted by the eminent ancient Russian icon painter Dionysius. In 2000, the Ferapontov Monastery ensemble was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The complex is a rare example of the preservation and stylistic unity of a 15th-16th-century monastic ensemble.
